What a CES Fitting Story Teaches About Trying AR Glasses in a Store

An XREAL beta tester's CES 2025 account describes trying several One Pro demonstration units before locating an L edition that suited them better. A temple adjustment then improved a corner. The author disclosed being a One beta tester; this is an individual exhibition experience, not an independent retail comparison.

That distinction matters. Prototype labels, booth settings and a short demonstration do not necessarily describe the product eventually sold. For example, use XREAL's current model-specific IPD page for retail ranges, rather than copying an early event post's figures into a buying decision. The demonstration's exact firmware remains unestablished.

Bring a task that marketing footage does not answer

Before the appointment, choose a simple reading sample and the kind of interface you intend to use. A short text page, menu-heavy game or spreadsheet can reveal requirements that a full-screen landscape clip does not exercise. Use non-sensitive files; a public demonstration station is not the place for confidential work.

Ask the staff member which exact edition is fitted and whether its adjustments match the unit being sold. If possible, inspect the model designation in the documented device menu. Record the source and whether an accessory or app is adding spatial features. A booth computer running special software is not the same chain as your own laptop.

Repeat one observation after each adjustment

Check the centre and all corners before changing anything. Then change a supported nose-pad or temple position and repeat the same page. Do not accept a rushed switch to a brighter movie as the answer to unreadable text. Equally, do not label a whole product defective because one unfamiliar adjustment initially fits poorly.

A useful comparison ends with written requirements: the fitted edition, required insert or adapter, demonstrated mode, source compatibility and anything not demonstrated. The goal is to leave with fewer unanswered purchase questions, not with an impressive screen-size number.

A demonstration is only the first gate

Short trials do not establish prolonged comfort, battery behaviour or compatibility with a device left at home. Check the seller's written return and prescription-accessory terms before ordering. If a feature is essential but could not be demonstrated, keep it unresolved rather than assuming the retail box completes the missing chain.

The Lensden model checklist can organise those questions without replacing the existing Compare controls. Source review: November 3, 2026. Lensden did not attend or reproduce the cited demonstration.
