Glasses Privacy Has Several Controls: Capture, Cloud Processing and Sharing

A Ray-Ban Meta privacy question asks who can see recordings and where they are stored.

A Ray-Ban Meta privacy question asks who can see recordings and where they are stored. Replies mix local capture, cloud features, training and legal allegations. Those comments are not a verified account of every data flow. The exact settings on the questioner's glasses are Unknown.

For an informed choice, separate what is recorded, what is imported, what a connected feature processes and what you deliberately share. One switch should not be assumed to control all four.

Trace one ordinary activity

Start with a photo or video you choose to capture. Meta's responsible innovation information describes captures remaining on the glasses until phone import, capture indicators and preferences for captures, voice and notifications. That manufacturer description does not mean every later use of a file stays local.

Opening a cloud-dependent AI feature introduces a different question: what input does that feature send for processing? Review the current feature notice and linked privacy information in the app before using private material. Do not infer that disabling public sharing also disables cloud processing, or that deleting a local file removes every server-side record.

Keep public sharing separate

Meta says chats are not shared to Discover unless the user chooses to share them. That distinction matters when evaluating claims that using an assistant automatically makes a conversation public. It also does not settle every retention, review or training question; those require the applicable current policy and settings.

Review the visible choices on the actual app and account. Record their names privately if you need a comparison later, but avoid posting screenshots containing account identifiers, contacts or recordings. Do not use another person's sensitive conversation as a troubleshooting sample.

Ask narrow questions when a policy is unclear

Useful support questions name the feature: does this specific action upload media, can cloud media be disabled on this model, and what does deleting this history remove? Keep retention periods and regional differences Unknown unless the relevant primary notice establishes them. A forum reassurance is not a contractual promise, and an allegation is not a finding of fact.

Respect bystanders regardless of the selected account settings. A recording indicator provides information, but does not replace an appropriate conversation about capture.
