The Companion App Is Part of the Purchase: Storage and Feed Friction Matter
In a Meta AI app storage discussion, owners describe growing app storage and uncertainty about media, cached material and reinstalling.
In a Meta AI app storage discussion, owners describe growing app storage and uncertainty about media, cached material and reinstalling. A commenter attributes it to the Discover feed, but the discussion does not verify that explanation. App storage figures alone do not establish that private recordings were uploaded.
This is a different buying consideration from camera resolution. If the ordinary device controls sit inside an app the wearer finds confusing or distracting, the product can require more phone interaction than expected. That experience deserves a place in a review without turning frustration into an unsupported privacy allegation.
Separate the categories on the phone
Record the app version, phone OS and the storage categories actually shown by the system. Distinguish app data from recordings visible in the phone's gallery and any separately configured cloud copy. A large number labelled documents and data is not a complete forensic description of what occupies it.
Do not clear data or reinstall merely because a commenter reports doing so. First establish whether original media has been exported and what pairing or settings may need to be restored. The manufacturer FAQ is the appropriate starting point for current media-management guidance.
Rehearse the ordinary task
Before deciding the app is suitable, locate device settings, pending imports, the actual exported file and support information. Note whether optional discovery or sharing screens are involved in the path. An interface screenshot from another region or app version may not match the installed build.
If a sharing control appears, inspect its audience and preview instead of assuming a device-management app is private by default. Choosing not to use an optional feed is different from verifying that no data is processed elsewhere. Read the applicable publisher information for that separate question.
Include friction in the purchase decision
A compelling hands-free capture moment may be less useful if retrieving it routinely becomes confusing. Ask whether the supported app works on the intended phone and region, and whether the wearer can complete the essential workflow without unwanted extras.
Keep unresolved storage behaviour as Unknown while asking support for the relevant category and cleanup procedure.
